Bathroom Remodel in Buda, TX

A homeowner in Buda reached out to B&H Remodeling about a small master bathroom that needed more than a cosmetic update. Water damage had taken a toll, and the space needed a complete renovation from the studs out while keeping the existing footprint of the room.

The Scope

This was a full remodel handled as one coordinated project: demolition, framing, drywall, waterproofing, tile, fixtures, paint, and final detailing. Because water damage was involved, waterproofing was the core of the job. We installed mold block and moisture resistant protection on the shower walls, waterproofing board, and liquid waterproofing across the entire shower area and shampoo niche, then finished all tile surfaces with mold resistant grout and sealer.

The project also included updated plumbing for the shower, toilet, and vanity, new GFCI outlets, five recessed lights, a new code compliant exhaust fan, a new door, fresh texture and paint, tile flooring, a new vanity, a new toilet, and new fixtures and accessories throughout.

Timeline

Under three weeks from demolition to final walkthrough

Scope

Studs-out renovation within the existing footprint

Waterproofing Done Right

Because water damage was the reason for this remodel, moisture protection ran through every step of the job.

Mold Block Walls

Mold block and moisture resistant protection installed on the shower walls before any tile went up.

Waterproofing Board + Liquid Membrane

Waterproofing board plus liquid waterproofing across the entire shower area and shampoo niche.

Mold Resistant Grout & Sealer

All tile surfaces finished with mold resistant grout and sealer to keep moisture out for the long haul.

Ventilation & Electrical

A new code compliant exhaust fan, new GFCI outlets, and five recessed lights to keep the space dry and bright.

The Result

The finished bathroom went from dated and water worn to clean, bright, and built to stay dry. New gray tile wraps the tub surround, the tile floor ties the room together, and the recessed lighting and updated vanity make the small space feel significantly larger. The work was completed in under three weeks from demolition to final walkthrough.

Common Questions About Water Damage Remodels

How do I know if my bathroom has water damage behind the walls?

Soft or discolored drywall, peeling paint, musty smells, and loose tile are common signs. The only way to know for sure is to open the wall, which is why damaged areas are rebuilt from the studs out.

Does a water damage remodel have to change the layout?

No. This project kept the existing footprint of the room. Rebuilding in place keeps plumbing where it is while still allowing all-new waterproofing, tile, and fixtures.
